Members of the iCoSys team recently took part in ICDAR 2026 in Vienna, an international conference dedicated to document analysis and recognition.

One of the highlights was the hands-on tutorial “Agentic AI for Document Analysis Systems,” presented by Ornella Vaccarelli, Olivier D’Ancona, Tim Hallyburton, Anna Scius-Bertrand and Beat Wolf.

Agentic AI for document analysis

During the tutorial, the team explored how AI agents can bring together different document analysis tools and coordinate them within workflows that adapt to the task at hand.

The hands-on format gave participants the opportunity to experiment with the presented approaches, exchange ideas with the tutorial team and discuss the potential of agentic AI for document analysis systems.

Connecting with the document analysis community

Beyond the tutorial, ICDAR provided a valuable opportunity for the iCoSys team to discover current research in the field, exchange with colleagues and establish new connections within the international document analysis and recognition community.

The conference was also an opportunity to strengthen exchanges around emerging approaches combining document intelligence, AI agents and adaptable processing workflows.
