The Smart Quality for Sustainability (Smart Q4S) project, launched in Q1 2025, spearheads a new era in Industry 4.0 through AI-driven process optimization, real-time quality oversight, and integrated sustainability metrics. Led by the Haute École d’Ingénierie et d’Architecture de Fribourg (HEIA-FR) with its SeSi and iCoSys institutes, and backed by Condis, UCB Farchim, ICUBE, UTY3, and Projets21, Smart Q4S harnesses advanced analytics, generative AI (LLM-RAG), and machine learning to boost resource efficiency while curbing production costs.
Within this consortium, our Institute of AI and Complex Systems focuses on LLM-RAG solutions and research on optimal system configurations, ensuring adaptive AI agents effectively support real-time industrial operations. By merging scientific rigor and industrial know-how, Smart Q4S paves the way for a more competitive, resilient, and environmentally responsible manufacturing landscape.
