MSE Summer School 2025 — AI & Data Services (25–29 Aug, Lausanne)

The Swiss AI Center for SMEs is organizing the MSE Summer School 2025: AI & Data Services, a one-week program running 25–29 August 2025 at HES-SO Master, Av. de Provence 6, Lausanne. The format combines morning expert talks and afternoon case-study sprints with industry partners.

What to expect

  • Audience & format: 29 students, working in small teams on industry-defined case studies; mornings feature 4×45’ talks with invited experts, afternoons are dedicated to the cases.

  • Outcomes & credits: 3 ECTS on successful completion; final presentations Friday 29 Aug (12’ + 3’ Q&A) and a report due the following week. Assessment by 2 professors + 1 industry expert.

Daily themes

  • Mon 25.08 — Business case understanding: AI adoption, project & change management, and innovation support.

  • Tue 26.08 — Advanced data engineering: Polars & DuckDB at scale, imaging pipelines, and practical data prep.

  • Wed 27.08 — AI modelling: Reinforcement learning (RL/RLHF), NLP matching, and advanced LLMs.

  • Thu 28.08 — MLOps & deployment: From lab to production—technical, organizational and regulatory challenges.

  • Fri 29.08 — Law, safety & ethics: GDPR/Swiss DPA basics, contracts & liability, and ethics-by-design; final presentations 14:30, apéro 17:00.
