iCosys featured in «La Gruyère»

We had the pleasure of contributing to the July 11 edition of the newspaper La Gruyère.
Jean Hennebert and Sébastien Rumley, share their perspective on AI tools such as ChatGPT, and the broader issues they raise:

  • Cognitive delegation: AI responds quickly, often without sources or justification. There’s a risk of accepting these outputs as truths without questioning them.

  • New ways of learning: Students now have instant answers to nearly any question. How can we still teach them rigor and critical thinking when faced with ready-made responses?

  • The illusion of an “intelligent” AI: AI doesn’t think. It assembles words based on probabilities. It’s up to us to reason, analyze, and make decisions.

  • Environmental impact: Behind AI, there are data centers consuming vast amounts of energy — an aspect we often overlook.

  • The “baby tiger” metaphor: AI can seem cute and fascinating, but it grows quickly — and it requires a proper ethical framework.

At HEIA-FR, we support our students in understanding these tools, not just from a technical standpoint, but also from a human, social, and ecological perspective.
AI is changing how we access knowledge and information — it’s up to us to approach it with clarity and critical insight.
