I’m a multi-facetted technologist who likes to understand, model, improve and, when the opportunity is given, design systems. For this I have my main skills in Computer Science but I’m also versed in Physics and Electrical Engineering. In my career I’ve been working on Embedded Systems, Web proxies, Smart Grid (Master thesis), Backbone communication networks (PhD thesis), Integrated optics and super-computer networks (PostDoc), and low/no-code development frameworks (Olympe.io).Even if my education is from EPFL (Msc and PhD), and so my home is Western Switzerland, I had the luck to live in Zurich (2002-2004), Santiago de Chile (2004-2005) and New York (2012-2015). I’m currently Associate Professor in the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO), Fribourg Engineering School branch (HEIA-FR), and I’m member of the iCoSys Institute. I’m teaching mostly in the areas of Software Engineering, Computer Engineering and IT infrastructure monitoring and benchmarking. Within Software Engineering, I’m teaching clean, maintainable and robust code principles, DevOps and software optimization. I’m the author of more than 80 scientific publications and I gathered more than 2000 citations (h-index: 22).

My current research interests are cloud computing deployments (Kubernetes, Hypervisors, …) monitoring and optimisation; green computing and sustainable computing ; digital twins for smart buildings.
